Thursday, Aug 23—First day of school for students
Goals/Targets:
  1. Welcome class & introduce procedures and tools for success.
  2. Retrieve contact information.
  3. To learn to utilize planner for student organization and success.
  4. To get to know students’ surrounding and peers
Procedures:
  • Take Attendance
  • Intro to class & teachers
  • Collect both summer reading maps
  • Organize Planner- Write HW in it
  • Show Wiki page & how to complete Smr Rdg survey
  • Distribute & discuss syllabus
  • Contact notecards (& example)
  • Discuss MUG Shot
  • Begin Peer-to-Peer Scavenger Hunt
HW:
  1. Parent Signature on Syllabus due Monday (will accept early)
  2. Complete summer reading survey on wiki page
  3. Review for tomorrow's summer reading quiz on ​The Outsiders​ (10 questions/10 points)


Friday, Aug 24
Goals/Targets:
  1. To formally assess understanding and completion of assigned summer reading text.
  2. To continue to become familiarized with surrounding & peers
Procedures:
  • Assign seats
  • Collect any completed/signed syllabi.
  • The Outsiders test (multiple choice)
  • Discuss Peer-to-Peer Scavenger Hunts
  • Begin “Me, Myself & I” handout
HW:
  1. Parent signature on syllabus due Monday
  2. Find pictures/Complete “Me, Myself & I” handout
  3. Please be sure to have required class supplies (see syllabus) in class by Tuesday, Aug 28
